Illinois Lock Company, a leading lock manufacturer, was founded in 1930 on the west side of Chicago before its move to our current location in Wheeling, Illinois in 1960.
In 1965 Illinois Lock was purchased by The Eastern Company. The Eastern Company is a 160-year old manufacturer of proprietary locks and security devices with eight divisions and seventeen global manufacturing locations.
The Illinois Lock Company continued to grow through the 1970's and 1980's with the introduction of the then new electronic and switch lock products.
Acquisitions and reinvestments were made into the business during the 1990's that led to the acquisition of CCL Security Products (CCL). CCL, formerly known as the Corbin Cabinet Lock, was an independent manufacturer of mechanical Padlocks, cabinet locks and cam locks. CCL's best known design is the original Sesamee Brand 4-wheel combination lock. The CCL brand is now an important segment of the Illinois Lock Company product offering.
In 2006, The Royal Lock Corporation was acquired and integrated into the Illinois Lock Company structure adding key customers and new capabilities.
In 2017, Illinois Lock Company deployed a new business philosophy based on the 80/20 principle to help transform and focus the business on our end-markets and key customers.
In 2018, we rebranded ourselves under the ILC banner to better illustrate our position as an engineered access solutions leader.
